The Via Ferrata "Chäligang" runs along the impressive Engstligen Falls from "Unter dem Birg" up to the Engstligenalp. The guided tour starts at the valley station of the Engstligenalp cable car.
After receiving the necessary equipment, there's an approximately 20-minute walk to the start of the via ferrata. The route, rated K2 (moderately difficult), is suitable for beginners and families.
During the ascent, spectacular views of the waterfall and the Engstligen Valley are offered. After completing the via ferrata, you reach the Engstligenalp.
The tour ends at the Engstligenalp. The return journey is individual, either by train or on foot.
Practical Information:
- Around 600 free parking spaces are available at the valley station of the Engstligenalp cable car.
Difficulty K2:
- Sections may be on steeper rocky terrain, but the route is well secured
- Steep or vertical sections are mitigated with ladders and/or iron rungs
- In less difficult terrain, wire ropes or chains secure the climber on the via ferrata
