The cable car from Rivera runs up Monte Tamaro to Alpe Foppa via the Piano di Mora middle station.

Valley station: Rivera (529 m above sea level)
Mountain station: Alpe Foppa on Monte Tamaro (1530 m above sea level)

The valley station in Rivera is no more than 15 km from Lugano. It is easily reached by car via the A2 (Rivera exit).

Mountain station: Monte Lema (1566 m above sea level)
bottom station: Miglieglia (717 m above sea level)

If you wish, you can get on the bus at the bottom station in Miglieglia to take you back to Rivera.

Departure from Miglieglia (Monte Lema cable car valley station) is at 17:15
Arrival in Rivera (Monte Tamaro valley station) is at 17:50

Hike description

The high-level trail between Monte Tamaro and Monte Lema is a very popular hiking trail. You can enjoy an unbeatable panorama of the surrounding valleys and the impressive mountain scenery behind them. It extends as far as the Valais Alps in the west and the Grisons Alps in the east.

The stages of the hike:

Monte Tamaro Alpe Foppa mountain station (1530 m above sea level)
Monte Tamaro (1962 m above sea level)
Monte Gradiccioli (1936 m above sea level)
Monte Magno (1636 m above sea level)
Monte Lema mountain station starting point (1566 m above sea level)

You can easily bypass the actual summits of Gradiccioli and Monte Tamaro, saving you up to 160 meters in altitude if the ascent is too difficult for you. Take the cable car down to Miglieglia, where a bus will be waiting for you. It will take you back to Rivera.
