Description

Using the cable car, you comfortably travel from the Bettmeralp valley station up to the car-free Bettmeralp (1970 m above sea level). Bettmeralp is a popular mountain village and an ideal starting point for hikes and excursions.
To reach the viewpoint Bettmerhorn, transfer to the Bettmerhorn cable car at Bettmeralp. The cable car takes you up to Bettmerhorn (2647 m above sea level), where you can enjoy one of the most spectacular views of the Great Aletsch Glacier.

Various hiking trails lead from the Bettmerhorn offering spectacular views of the Aletsch Glacier, such as towards Marejel Lake or Eggishorn. The most popular is the high-altitude path Bettmerhorn – Eggishorn – Fiescheralp.

Luggage transfer

  • Two pieces of luggage per person are transported free of charge.
  • For additional luggage, luggage trolleys (for a fee) can be rented. All transports are valid for the trip from the valley Bettmeralp to the plateau Bettmeralp, and use is only permitted within the railway area.

Traveling with a wheelchair

  • The Bettmeralp cable car is accessible with level boarding and disembarking.
  • In Bettmeralp: Accessible paths, viewing platforms, toilets, and electric taxis available.
  • The cable car to Bettmerhorn is wheelchair accessible.
  • The Aletsch promenade path between Bettmeralp and Riederalp is paved and has gentle inclines.

Travelling with a stroller

Transporting strollers is usually straightforward since trains and stations are designed to be accessible.

Traveling with Dog

Dogs (over 30 cm shoulder height) need a dog ticket (50% of the regular second-class ticket, but at least the fixed minimum fare). Small dogs travel free in boxes.
Please observe local rules such as leash requirements in certain areas to protect nature and other guests.
