Malvaglia cable car experience

Description

A truly scenic and architecturally historic jewel. The Malvaglia-Dagro cable car offers access to a landscape in which cultural, scenic, sporting and relaxation aspects all come together.
In the ancient settlements known as “ville”, you can still get an idea of how life used to be from the watermills, the bread oven and a wide variety of rock paintings. You certainly won’t regret venturing further into Val Malvaglia – either hiking or traveling the very narrow mountain road – past historic stone bridges, through chestnut forests and along the reservoir. It is a truly scenic and architecturally historic jewel and has been entered in the Swiss Federal Inventory of Landscapes of National Importance. Val Malvaglia, which has been inhabited since the 13th century, has retained its natural beauty and is considered an insider tip among those who know Ticino well.
Between Dagro and Madra, visitors can see some of Ticino’s oldest buildings: small wooden houses on a dry-stone-wall foundation. These buildings, known as “cascine”, are mostly used as holiday homes nowadays. Many of these witnesses of the past can be discovered on a hike from the cable car upper station to Dandrio and then down to the valley floor in Malvaglia. This hike will take you along the entire valley in both directions.
Thanks to the cable car, which is in operation throughout the entire year and departs from Malvaglia, you can reach the sunny terrace of Dagros (1,400m a.s.l.) in just eight minutes.
