Description

On the southern edge of the Alps rises the striking Monte Generoso with its "Fiore di pietra" structure designed by world-famous architect Mario Botta. The cogwheel railroad, which has been in operation for over 130 years, takes you from Capolago on Lake Lugano over a 9 km route to the 1704-metre-high summit.

Discover the nature trail, the coal pile route or the planet trail. The planet trail is like a "walk through the stars". The 600-metre-long path presents a planetary model of our solar system on a scale of 1:10 billion. The trail is also suitable for families with baby carriages.

You can combine your visit to Monte Generoso with a boat trip on Lake Lugano. A scheduled boat service runs once a day from Lugano to Capolago.
