Blenio Valley

The Blenio Valley, nicknamed the Valley of the Sun, is a paradise for nature lovers, a nature that is all to be discovered. A large nature park and a rich historical and cultural heritage invite visitors to discover harmonious natural and built landscapes, as well as some masterpieces of rural architecture immersed in nature throughout the year.
The Blenio Valley is a typical subalpine valley that extends from the Lukmanier Pass (1,914 m) down the valley to Malvaglia (389 m).
Although, due to its location, it is part of the arid Alpine world, the Blenio Valley has a distinctly southern character: Even viticulture has a long tradition here.
Mountain agriculture has transformed this wild valley into a scenic jewel. But that's not all: The valley has an extremely varied range of cultural offerings. History can be relived in the parades of the Napoleonic militias, in the halls of small and austere museums such as the Museum of Lottigna, in the ruins of the Castle of Serravalle or in the masterpieces of Lombard Romanesque best exemplified by the Church of Negrentino. In this valley there are also hundreds of small cottages where guests can spend their holidays in an authentic and characteristic way.
Summer
There are over 500 kilometres of perfectly marked hiking trails that allow you to discover all the charm of the Valle del Sole.
Well-preserved villages and treasures of a historical and artistic nature can be explored thanks to the low path or the specific historical paths.
Places where nature has remained almost untouched can be admired by walking through the unique landscape of the Greina.
Also of particular value is the Lucomagno Pass region, which is also immersed in an exceptional natural landscape. The Centro Pro Natura Lucomagno in Acquacalda is a starting point of the 7 nature trails that will allow you to discover the secrets of this seductive Alpine region.
The numerous tours dedicated to mountain bikes also allow you to discover hidden but equally sun-kissed places a little faster, served by the welcoming refreshment points and alpine huts that offer typical Ticino dishes. The Malvaglia funicular that leads to Dagro gives access to a slightly more rugged alpine way that leads up to the highest peak in the Canton of Ticino: The Adula.
For rock climbing enthusiasts, the Luzzone dam offers the longest artificial equipped wall in the world: 160 meters of pure adrenaline!
Winter
The destination of Campo Blenio is ideal for families and novice skiers/snowboarders. There are also numerous entertainment activities to entertain young and old.
Above Leontica, in the Nara 2000 ski area, there are five lifts for more experienced skiers. Fun is also guaranteed thanks to the longest toboggan run in Ticino. In summer, the area is appreciated by bikers with tempting offers!
Winter hikers will find a wide range of walks and snowshoe trails scattered throughout the mountain area.
In the magical flat area of Campra, lovers of cross-country skiing can train in a wonderful Nordic landscape, until deep into spring with always optimal snow conditions.
