History
Fontainemelon is first mentioned about 1350 as Fontainnemelom. In 1358 it was mentioned as Fontannamillon.
Geography
Fontainemelon had an area, as of 2009, of 2.5 square kilometers (0.97 sq mi). Of this area, 0.99 km2 (0.38 sq mi) or 40.4% is used for agricultural purposes, while 0.98 km2 (0.38 sq mi) or 40.0% is forested.
