Le jour de son cinquantième anniversaire, Miljenko, un entrepreneur croate prospère, apprend que son entreprise est au bord de la faillite. Peu après, sa fille, qui vit à Londres, annonce ses fiançailles et sa grossesse – avec le fils du Premier ministre serbe. Alors que Miljenko perd pied, son conseiller Budimir entrevoit une possibilité inattendue de sauver la situation.
