Mooraculum – A natural wonder to discover

Description

Mooraculum on the Rossweid in Sörenberg is a place where families with children will find everything they could ever want: ponds with water play equipment, an explorer pass with associated tasks, climbing activities, suspended chairs and picnic areas. The focus is on the mystical moor landscapes. Visitors of all ages will learn how a moor is formed, get to know the moorland inhabitants and, above all, will be encouraged to experience the moor with all of their senses.
The moorland water park is directly adjacent to the large sun terrace of the Rossweid adventure restaurant. Parents can linger here over a cool drink, while their kids play in the sand or on the climbing equipment in the mini moor in front of the sun terrace. Older children can navigate their way through the moor with the explorer’s pass or mess about on the raft on the big pond.

Suitable for buggies: Sundew Trail
The Sundew Trail, which is suitable for buggies, is another part of the Mooraculum. This colourful circular route offers an enchanting opportunity to see butterflies, dragonflies and pretty flowers, including many wild orchids. As you walk among the blueberries in the woods of the highland moor, you’ll feel yourself transported to another world of gnarled mountain pines. In all, there are 17 adventure stations with plenty of interesting information and entertaining games for visitors of all ages to play. The Sundew Trail takes its name from the plant of the same name, which can survive even in nutrient-poor environments, feeding on insects. The trail ends back at the Mooraculum, and what better way to bring the visit to a close than with a bike board ride from Rossweid back to Sörenberg.

Long circular moorland trail
The 4.5-kilometre circular moorland trail is based entirely on the existing hiking trails in the mysterious moorland of the UNESCO Entlebuch Biosphere. Although the Rossweid-Salwide trail is not suitable for buggies, it offers a wonderful hike through various types of moorland for all age groups. The focus here will be on all aspects of the moor: how it was formed, its native plants and their survival strategies, as well as the modern management of this natural wonder. It is particularly suitable for families with older children, for schoolchildren or for those interested in nature. At 17 stations along the trail, visitors will have the opportunity to discover the moor and carry out tasks or solve puzzles.
Free / Family pass CHF 64 (includes cable car, restaurant and bobsleigh run vouchers)
