New exhibition space for the Plan of St. Gall

  • Image 1

Description

The entire Convent of St. Gall has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1983. The baroque cathedral with its twin-tower façade is the emblematic landmark of the historic city of St. Gallen and one of the last monumental monastic constructions of the Baroque. The abbey library – one of the oldest and most beautiful in the world – is at the heart of the Abbey District.
From spring 2018, another two attractions will add to the offerings in the Abbey District: the renovated vaulted cellar in the abbey library telling the story of the St. Gallen cathedral, and an interactive exhibition room with the Plan of St. Gall. The undoubted highlight of this exhibition is seeing the original plan of the St. Gall from the 9th century.
