Description

The newly created garden with its own grape vines and a fragrant rose garden invites you to dream. These areas with various plants lend the castle a pleasant feeling of spaciousness.
Unfortunately, we still don’t know how the historic Stockalpergarten was designed in the 17th century. But the basic structures that Kaspar Stockalper vom Thurm gave the previously much larger garden landscape (some 10,000 square metres) are set out precisely in the historical resources.

The garden is divided into two elements: the parterre with a pleasure garden, featuring water elements and quadrangles (Viridarium), and the park with fruit garden adorned with a number of rare plants (Pomarium).
Thanks to the exciting way in which the trees are laid out, the project connects the different parts of the park together. The sloped lawn, which is kept free from trees, makes for a beautiful transition to the hillside vineyard and creates an exciting visual line leading to the castle. The vaulted cellars of the rose garden contrasts on a small scale with the wide open spaces.
