Description

We board the «Siesta», a semi-catamaran in Solothurn, Switzerland's most beautiful Baroque-style city. On the picturesque cruise to Biel one passes the unique Stork Colony at Altreu, the charming country town of Büren and the Jura mountains. (Cruises mid-May to mi-October).
Connoiseurs consider the Aare cruise Switzerland’s most beautiful boat trip. The romantic cruise passes the Inseli (little island) and the idyllic Altreu with its famous stork’s nests. It leads to Büren on the Aare River. The lovely historic and medieval little town is listed in the Federal Inventory of Cultural Heritage Sites. The prominent sights of the triangular center of the town are the Castle; the restored Rathaus (Town Hall) with its Gothic window front; the «Spittel» (former hospital), which was converted into a local history museum; the municipal church; the arbors at Hauptgasse; the town’s two fountains and the mighty wooden bridge. Büren welcomes you most heartily and suggests that you take an excursion to the «Häftli» Nature Reserve or just spend some leisurely time in the town.

The Aare cruise takes approximately 2h50min.

Access:
To Solothurn by train in less than an hour (Transfer in Olten); Return from Biel through the Jura directly to Basel. By road in 50 minutes via Autobahn A2 and A1 to Solothurn. After the river cruise return by train to Solothurn.
