Alpine Life – a fascinating theme trail

Description

Which cows go out to pasture where? What happens to the milk on the alp? Why do the animals wear bells? These questions and more are answered along the new theme trail on alpine life that leads from Somtgant to Radons near Savognin.
On this new theme trail, visitors can discover more about life and work on the alp on 17 information pillars. It begins at the Somtgant cable car station and goes left down towards Radons. The trail is 6.5km long and takes around two hours to complete.

At the Somtgant mountain hut, kids will love the themed playground with a pitchfork swing, sandpit and milking well. There’s also photo bench at a viewpoint, where you can take a great picture as a souvenir.

You can travel easily from Chur to Savognin by public transport. The Savognin cable car then takes passengers to Tigignas. Families can also get to the valley station of Savognin Bergbahnen AG by car.

A guided walk along the Alpleben (alpine life) trail, suitable for young and old alike
Explore the Alpleben trail from Somtgant to Radons together with a hiking guide. While the children let off steam on the play equipment, the adults will be given a fascinating insight into the history of alpine farming, the local flora and fauna, and the interplay between farming and nature.
