Description

The ski safari in Zermatt includes much more than just skiing. Those who take on the challenge cover more than 10,000 metres of altitude in one day. An impressive performance!
This mountain experience is all about “strengthening those calves!” In just one day, the participants can cover a difference in height of between 10,000 and 12,500 metres. The rules of the top-speed ski safari are simple: never take the same cable car or use the same slope twice on the same day. The challenge starts at the Rothorn at an altitude of over 3,000 metres. The skiers follow a route over the Riffelberg and the Theodul glacier up to Trockener Steg. At that point, the adventurers might start to notice a slight pull in their thighs, but it’s not time to give up yet. Once they reach the glacial paradise of the Matterhorn, the challengers take a short breather and admire the impressive mountain landscape. Then it’s a short detour to Breuil-Cervinia, across the border to Italy. In the evening, the tired heroes once again return to the village of Zermatt via Stafelalp. Exhausted but happy, and with an elevation gain of at least 10,000 metres under their belt.
