Description

Set in the Aubonne Valley, between Morges and Rolle, the Arboretum cultivates thousands of trees in a natural environment for scientific purposes, species preservation and for the enjoyment of walkers.

Arboretum

Located in the Jura Vaudois Nature Park, the Arboretum, the only one of its kind in Switzerland, is home to more than 3,000 trees, originating from ecosystems of temperate climates all over the world – Europe, Japan, USA, etc. The Arboretum also comprises an orchard that aims to preserve long-forgotten old fruit varieties, including a beautiful collection of apple trees and rose hip bushes. In addition, the Arboretum has an impressive collection of cherry and magnolia trees, which bloom every year in March and April, delighting visitors.
The Vallon de l'Aubonne Arboretum can be visited all year round. However, autumn is the season that offers the most spectacular colours. Soft shades of yellow, red, brown, orange.... The colour gradient is truly impressive. For visitors who can't be there at this special time of year, or for a taste, there is a 360° tour.
Don't hesitate any longer and plan your visit to this charming place!
Circular routes – accessible to all
Guests can choose between various circular trails that meander among trees, shrubs, bushes, river and lake. Didactic information panels invite you to learn and picnic areas to relax. In addition, since the spring of 2021, the Arboretum is also accessible to people with reduced mobility. A wheelchair with adapted chassis and electric control moves safely on steep slopes and unpaved terrain. The chair can be used by people with disabilities, but also by elderly people or people with temporarily reduced mobility. Thanks to this new means of transport and the two specially designed routes of almost 6 kilometres, the Arboretum is accessible to as many people as possible. Further information on the new service for guests with reduced mobility can be found here.

Exhibitions & Museum

The exhibitions in the Visitor Centre and the Wooden Tools and Forestry Museum (wheelchair accessible) aims to save the centuries-old activity of craftsmen from oblivion and pay tribute to the wonderful inventiveness of our ancestors. 1,500 exhibits can be viewed by guests in permanent or special exhibitions.
