Alpine Culture: Experiencing farm work on the Alp

Description

Experiencing Alpine Culture not only means sleeping on an Alp, but also working on an Alp or farm. Visitors help with making hay, mucking stalls, milking cows, or cheese-making, and takes away a feeling for life as a mountain farmer.
On the Adventure Day on an Alp, guests will learn about the life of a mountain farmer by helping with haymaking, replacing straw in the cowshed, milking or cheese making. Also part of the diverse “Alpkultur” offerings are a visit to a show dairy, experiencing animal husbandry, visiting farmsteads, sleeping on an Alp and guided hiking tours.

A special highlight for children and families is the 7,000-square-meter Alpine playground and meeting place on the Lenkerseeli. It includes an Alpine hut, a petting zoo, various playground equipment built from natural materials, fire pits for barbecuing, and a small train with a steam locomotive. Many hours of fun are guaranteed!

Every year, in mid-October, the Alpine Culture Days take place. They include a traditional festival and Alpine games such as the Hornussen tournament (an Alpine ball game), the election of Miss Lenk (the most beautiful cow), the Alpine cattle descent and other events.

Important information
