Description

A world away from Techno beats you’ll find the carefully composed, creative shows of the Béjart Ballet, presided over by famous choreographer Maurice Béjart.
The French dancer and choreographer Maurice Béjart (1927–2007) is regarded as the man who revitalised ballet: he freed male dancers from ballerina influence, even had them appear in jeans, and with his spectacular performances brought ballet to a whole new public. In 1987 he transferred his world-famous Béjart Ballet to Lausanne, where twice a year it continues to stage premieres of new works before taking them on world tour.

In 1992, Béjart founded the "Ecole-Atelier Rudra Béjart" in Lausanne. It has since become one of the most prestigious educational institutions in the world of classical and modern dance.
