Chamoson

Chamoson covers 3,500 hectares of orchards, vineyards, mountain pastures, meadows and rocks. Its surprisingly diverse terrain stretches from the banks of the Rhone to the rugged peaks of the Haut de Cry.
With 417 hectares of vineyards, this is the largest winegrowing community in the canton. Johannisberg is still its emblematic wine and can be granted the designation of Grand Cru alongside Petite Arvine, Pinot Noir and Syrah. A vast network of footpaths offers a chance to explore an area that stretches from the Rhone to the Muveran mountains, with a wide variety of winegrowing and cultural events throughout the year.

St-Pierre-de-Clages lies to the south of Chamoson. Its most distinctive feature is the 11th century Romanesque church, the only one of its kind in Switzerland. The houses in the old village date from the 16th and 17th centuries. Known as «the Swiss book village», St-Pierre also has many bookshops that will inspire your passion for literature.
