Tschierv

Nestled in a breathtaking mountain landscape and surrounded by verdant green meadows or snow-covered fields, the little village is an oasis all on its own. Tschierv sits 1,660 metres above sea level and has less than 180 people living there. Most of the people speak Romansch, and the village is particularly known for wildlife watching and its situation on the edge on the Swiss National Park.
Far from the larger Swiss cities and touristy areas, Tschierv is a fairy tale retreat. The village may be small, but it’s big on charm, and definitely worth a visit. The Minschuns ski area is a great place to ski in winter, and in summer it’s worth a hike in the Münster Valley.
Not far from Tschierv is the regional nature park “Biosfera Val Müstair”. Together with the Swiss National Park, it forms part of Switzerland’s first UNESCO high-Alpine biosphere reserve. Thanks to the long sunny days in the high valley, Val Müstair is the perfect place for growing organic foods. The region also has some interesting cultural spots to visit: Alongside the Convent of St. John, there are various museums, a weaving mill, the charming Graubünden villages and of course the stupendous natural landscape too.
