New halfpipe with a future

Description

120 meters long, six meters high and yet an energy saver. This new feature in the Grindelwald Snowpark is indeed most impressive!
The new halfpipe merges smoothly with the surrounding landscape; or should we say shapes the landscape on the First, above Grindelwald, where the so-called “shapers” created its ground features last summer. This is why the sidewalls now mainly consist of natural materials instead of artificial snow, promoting sustainability as well as saving electricity and water at the same time.
Great energy consumption is hence reserved for the “Rider“ as, with dimensions of 120 x 22 x 6 m (length, width, height) this calls for plenty of it! It was the two Olympic champions Iouri Podladtchikov and Gian Simmen that first opened this facility with their daring jumps.
This flagship object is intended to be open to all, whether skiers or snowboarders, novices or experts. Here’s the place to meet with a great challenge - and compete with one of Switzerland’s largest halfpipes.
