A hike to Fluonalp by sunrise

Description

A ride in a cable car, a legendary hiking trail, a summit at sunrise and a rustic mountain hut where you can even make Alpine cheese – the perfect mountain hike experience awaits on the Fluonalp above Lake Lungern!
The worthwhile two-day hike starts at the upper station of the Lungern-Turren cable car. At the beginning, the route follows the butterfly path. More than 115 types of diurnal large butterflies live here in the most species-rich butterfly region in Switzerland.
You reach the Fluonalp after a short descent. It is surrounded by lush alpine pastures bordered by the nature and wildlife reserve below  the Giswilerstock. There is a wonderful view here over Lake Sarnen across to Pilatus, the Rigi and Lake Lucerne.

The rustic mountain hut Fluonalp offers simple overnight accommodation in cosy multi-bed rooms. Local connoisseurs recommend the house speciality «Hindersimagronen” from the menu. Key info: You can visit the Alpine dairy. You can even make your own cheese if you arrange this in advance.

On the second day, it takes about one hour to reach the Giswilerstock early in the morning (1,824m). The sunrise and the panoramic view of the Central Swiss Alps are ample reward for the early climb. After a hearty Alpine breakfast on the Fluonalp, you’ll have plenty of energy for the walk back through the Sädel and Ägerten forests to the Lungern-Turren cable car.
