An impressive example of modern architecture – the Orselina-Cardada aerial cableway complex is of particular interest. Designed by Mario Botta, it attracts one’s gaze to Locarno’s local mountain.

The design of the two cabins was also conceived by Botta. With a height difference of around 1,000 metres, the cable car transports up to 40 people quickly and comfortably in just five minutes. The two cabins are also accessible to families with pushchairs and wheelchair users.

The double steel cable trip guarantees a safe ride in all conditions, whether wind, rain or snow. Cardada boasts one of the most modern digital electro-technical systems in Switzerland, which enables operation by qualified personnel directly from the control centre.

Not to be forgotten is the 2-seater chairlift, which runs - as the only one in Switzerland, still parallel to the direction of travel - from Cardada to Cimetta.
