Description

Hans Trudel (1881-1958) came to Baden as a mechanical draughtsman and established himself as a self-taught artist. He made his home in the lower part of the historical city centre, and today this house is used for contemporary art exhibitions. Many of Trudel's works are on display in public spaces – like his "Aviator in Bronze" (1927) on the station square. Trudel spent his entire life struggling for his art and for recognition. The nudity and the nature of this figure, a strange hybrid of a being, a human with fully grown wings, also caused people to protest. It wasn't until 1941 that Trudel received payment for this work.
