The Rinderberg is at the heart of the Simmental and Saanenland region. With numerous attractive ridge and high-altitude hikes, the mountain connects Zweisimmen with Saanenmöser, Schönried and St. Stephan.

A direct train runs from Bern to the valley station of what was once the longest gondola in Europe. From there, small gondola cabins transport visitors to the top of the Rinderberg at 2,079 metres. The Rinderberg-Spitz mountain restaurant is the starting point for scenic high-altitude hikes over the Gandlauenengrat ridge towards Horneggli, the Turbachtal valley or the Trüttlisberg Pass / Betelberg (Lenk). Alpine meadows full of Alpine roses, gentians and buttercups line the hiking trails.

Popular scooter run from the Eggweid middle station to Zweisimmen. Zweisimmen’s local mountain is said to have got its name from a lost white ox.
