One of the first major hotels in Thun, the Park Hotel des Bains de Bellevue was opened in the 1830s. This magnificent establishment, built in classical country mansion style, now houses a Tertianum for assisted living for the elderly.
The Park Hotel des Bains de Bellevue was world renowned during the pioneering days of Alpine tourism in the Bernese Oberland back in the 19th century. This prestigious hotel, which was nestled in a park next to the Aare, welcomed such guests as Emperor Napoleon III, Baron Rothschild, the King and Queen of Holland and Sweden, Felix Mendelson as well as various generals, barons and counts from all over Europe. Today, retirees living at the Tertianum stay in the historic premises of the Bellevue, where cultural events are held on a regular basis as well.
