GeoGallery Flumserberg

Description

Discover fossils and witness the mighty force of alpine folding from up close!
This panorama trail is around 4km long, and has plenty on offer for both kids and adults to marvel at. Just like in a real art gallery, following the panorama trail allows you to admire, touch and learn about fossils and weathering phenomena.

At more than 15 stations, visitors gain an exciting insight into how the Alps were formed and the power of tectonics, as well as interesting general information about geology. The trail starts at Maschgenkamm upper station before circling the Ziger, and is wheelchair-accessible. The second part of the trail, which is pushchair-friendly, zig-zags down from Maschgenkamm to Maschgenlücke before carrying on along flat terrain to the Prodkamm upper station.

Along the way, “tectonic” loungers and benches invite you to sit back, relax and take in the fantastic panoramic views (of the Churfirsten und Lake Walen, for example). There’s also an amenity area with a barbecue spot for a picnic or campfire on the way. A magical place in the Swiss Tectonic Arena Sardona, which has been awarded the title of UNESCO World Heritage Site for the way it presents the story of how the Alps were formed.
