Description

The Mauvoisin arch dam is an impressive structure, with a height of 250 m.
The Mauvoisin dam facility and the Mauvoisin-Fionnay and Fionnay-Riddes power plant stages were constructed between 1950 and 1958, and the Chanrion plant between 1959 and 1964. The Champsec power plant, which was built in 1930, was integrated into Kraftwerke Mauvoisin AG in 1992.

The Mauvoisin arch dam is an impressive structure, with a height of 250 m. It is part of the Mauvoisin dam facility, which has a maximum water level of 1975 m above sea level and a useable storage capacity of 193 million m3 of water. 43 per cent of the catchment area is glaciated.

The Mauvoisin reservoir can be reached from Sion (VS) by public transport in 1h 35 minutes or by car in 1h 5 minutes.
