Choleren Gorge

  • Image 1

Description

The Choleren Gorge, with its many flights of steps and bridges across lovely cascading waters, never fails to impress visitors.
The Choleren Gorge is filled with craggy cliffs and enchanting cascades flowing through the forest. Bridges and stairways have been added to the 100-metre long gorge so visitors can better enjoy the magic of the beautiful waterfalls, twisting turns, water mills and rock faces polished by centuries of erosion.
A one-hour hike takes you from Adelboden through Ausserschwand to the gorge. It is best to enter at the bottom and explore the gorge starting from there and working your way up. This way is safer and offers the best viewing points. This excursion can also be easily combined with a visit to the Pochtenkessel. This is where the waters of the Engstlige and Otterebach Rivers flow together into a deep hollowed out natural cauldron. And to end your day, why not take a rejuvenating dip in the Jungbrunnen (fountain of youth) pool right below the gorge?
Getting there: By public transport or car to Adelboden.
