A piece of rock reigning proudly over the Rhone Valley. Its name could stem from "pierre à voir"– seen from everywhere, or perhaps denote the rock to see!

Alone views from the Pierre Avoi over the Grand Combin to Trient region (with Mont Blanc barely visible from the Pierre Avoi summit) and Dents du Midi, to the depths of the Rhone Valley and opposite-lying Vaud and Bernese Alps make journeying here worthwhile.

Ascent to the Pierre Avoi from Savoleyres, from Croix de Coeur or from the west from Col des Planches or Col du Lein. The final 50 meters to the top lead over a staircase and ladders secured by chains – with the recommended descent from the south leading over Chute du Bisse to Verbier.
