The Weaving Museum in Thun takes you on a unique journey through Europe. A wide range of materials and weaving techniques from many different countries can be seen.
The museum was founded in 1994 by Terese Leutwyler, a basket weaver, in order to display a wide variety of woven articles and to raise awareness about this «old» profession. In addition to the constantly changing permanent exhibition, there is also an annual special exhibition focusing on a particular theme. The materials used and their varying applications make for a very interesting variety. Visit the museum and see what a traditional French handled basket looks like and view the materials used by weavers in Hungary. The museum is only open on certain weekends and on request.
