Description

This challenging mountain hike takes you from the Baden railway station over the Lägern Mountains in the Jura foothills and on to Regensberg. It lasts about about 3.5 hours. Good footwear is recommended.
After crossing the wooden bridge and going up a steep climb to Schartenfels Castle, you follow the distinctive Lägern ridge with its steep limestone banks. The views to the north and south are magnificent. Along the way you reach the ruins of Alt-Lägern Castle, which were probably abandoned by the beginning of the 13th century. Numerous findings indicate that this was the seat of the wealthy barons of Regensberg. The planet trail between Hochwacht and Regensberg, the medieval town of Regensberg with its round watchtower, the deep Sodbrunnen and the beautiful gardens are other highlights of this hike.
