Walk along an educational bird trail featuring huge attractions (giant nest box, platform in the trees). Visit to a peat bog. Furrowing the forest, a woodchip path invites visitors to discover a variety of bird species and their habitat (man-sized attractions).
Then the trail crosses a peat bog where the walker can both encounter a natural habitat and find out about the age-old tradition of “lifting” the peat for use as a fuel.
This natural site is in the forest of Bois de Ban, at Le Crêt.
Access:
from Châtel-St-Denis, follow the signs for Semsales then La Verrerie and Le Crêt, Bois de Ban. The “A tire d'Ailes” (Take Flight) trail and the peat bog trail are about 15 minutes from Châtel-St-Denis.
