The church in Tenna

  • Image 1

Description

When the Walser people arrived in the valley, it is thought that they built their first church here in about 1350. It is dedicated to St. Valentine, now known as the patron saint of lovers - no wonder that so many people choose to get married here, with the fantastic views of the Safien valley. Some wall-paintings that have been preserved because they were painted over during the Reformation were only rediscovered in the nave in 1957.
