Description

Already the Romans trod this path from the main Valais valley to the north. The historic pass crossing unites Leukerbad with Kandersteg – without roads, instead mountain rail.
These were followed by soldiers, pilgrims and traders - and many famous people such as Mark Twain, Lenin and Pablo Picasso, also got to know this wild and rugged region. Where wealthy travellers once travelled, followed by the famous "Gemmi-Wägeli" carriages, today the modern Gemmibahn railway takes passengers over the cantonal border on the steep 900 meter climb from Leukerbad.

The "Berghotel Wildstrubel" awaits guests at the top, along with two diverse via ferrata and a viewing platform at dizzying height.
