Each year, the Thun Art Museum hosts five temporary exhibitions that are mainly devoted to contemporary art. In addition to thematic and monographic special exhibitions, one collection exhibition is organised each year.

Founded in 1948, the museum runs an exhibition programme featuring both Swiss and international artists. In its special exhibitions focusing on contemporary art, the Thun Art Museum takes up contemporary positions and participates in the current art discourse. The collection is presented in regularly scheduled exhibitions, but is not viewable on a continuous basis.
