Museum Park Oskar Reinhart “Am Römerholz”

Description

Escape the hustle and bustle of daily life for a short while and enjoy a picnic in the museum garden of the Oskar Reinhart “Am Römerholz” collection. Stately chestnut trees and outdoor sculptures are scattered throughout the verdant park, making it the perfect spot to slow down and recharge.
Oskar Reinhart himself used to enjoy sitting under the chestnut trees in his garden with a cup of coffee in the afternoon. There, under the shade of the dense leaves, he could lose himself in contemplation of art and nature. He intentionally placed sculptures in the park grounds of his “Am Römerholz” villa to make the indoor and outdoor areas of his collection blend into a seamless whole.
Just like Oskar Reinhart, visitors too can now experience the peace and beauty of the museum park. In the summer months (June–September), the museum café offers packed picnic baskets for visitors to take out and enjoy in a quiet spot under the fruit trees. There are five different baskets to choose from, each based on a theme from the pieces in the collection. In the tradition of the impressionists, visitors can take a blanket and soft cushions out onto the grass to revive the French art of “déjeuner sur l'herbe” at Römerholz and escape the hassles of everyday life for a couple of hours.
