  • Image 1

Description

This route will give you a closer look at all of the region's distinctive landscapes, including the lake, the vineyards, the countryside and the foot of the Jura mountains.
Leaving Morges along small roads, you will soon reach the vineyard overlooking the lake between Denens and Vufflens-le-Château, with its impressive medieval castle. As you follow the country lanes, you will cycle past Château de Vullierens and its gardens, which are famous for their irises, before climbing through the villages up to the foot of the Jura mountains.

When you get to Cuarnens, you will be rewarded with views of the Venoge river, which Vaudois poet J. Villard-Gilles held so dear. You can also go and see its source in L’Isle. As you continue along the route through the villages on the edge of the Jura mountains’ forests and grasslands, you will reach the route’s highest point in Montricher (750m) and take in views of the mountains, from the Dents du Midi to Mont Blanc. Take a break with some delicious food at La Fromagerie and discover the world of Gruyère AOP by exploring the demonstration area and watching the film on how this famous cheese is made.

Your route will continue on to Ballens and then descend through the forest before reaching Saint-Livres, which looks out over the lake, vineyards and the old town of Aubonne. This landscape, interspersed with fruit trees and fields, will remain in view as you continue through the villages of Lavigny, Etoy and Saint-Prex, where you can make a detour to admire this pretty medieval old town.
