Bettmeralp is an idyllic holiday resort high above the Valais Rhone Valley: No car far and wide, but a far-reaching view from the Aletsch Glacier to the Matterhorn. The Aletsch Arena offers you winter sports from October to April and a variety of activities for families.
This is Bettmeralp
Bettmeralp is located in the south of Switzerland in
Valais. The car-free mountain village above the Rhone Valley is a popular travel and holiday destination thanks to the
Aletsch Glacier, the
Aletsch Arena, and its family-friendly atmosphere.
Discover Bettmeralp
On Bettmeralp you’ll encounter walkers and outdoor sports enthusiasts instead of cars. This idyllic chalet village offers families plenty of activities, including an indoor pool, a
natural ice rink, and a
rope park. The nearby Lake Bettmersee, with its circular trail, fire pit, and boat hire, is perfect for an outing. The most popular photo subject alongside the
Aletsch Glacier is the Chapel of Maria zum Schnee.
Top View of the Aletsch Glacier
From the Bettmerhorn viewing platform, you stand exactly where the
Great Aletsch Glacier curves away from the Konkordiaplatz – an awe-inspiring sight. The “Gletscherwelt” adventure exhibition tells fascinating stories about the
UNESCO World Heritage Site. This is also the starting point of the spectacular hike to the Märjelensee and via Fiescheralp back to Bettmeralp.
Winter Sports in the Aletsch Arena
Imagine: the sun is shining, the snow sparkles, and you set off down the
Aletsch piste – the glacier behind you and the
Matterhorn in front. Bettmeralp is part of the
Aletsch Arena with over 100 kilometres of pistes, panoramic toboggan runs, winter hiking trails, and
snowparks. Families can enjoy the
Gletschi Funslope or snowtubing. The snowsports season here lasts from October to April. In summer, the diverse terrain attracts
trail runners, bikers, and
hikers.
