Description

Rosengarten, the rose garden, is situated next to the entrance of the Munot Fortress and covers an area of about 2,000 sq.m. In 1981 the town nursery together with the Swiss association of rose lovers designed it in the French Renaissance garden-style.
The rose flower beds are bordered off from the pathways by low-growing box hedges. Due to the terraced arrangement there is a beautiful view from the top platform of the rose collection with its approx. 170 species and down to the Old Town. In the flower beds the most important species of all the varieties found there are indicated. The pergola makes a fitting artistic completion and also offers the rambling roses support. Below the rose garden, along, ‘Munothaldenweg’, the Munot pathway, the collection has been complemented by the addition of a number of the wild roses that can be found in this region.
