Description

Some evenings, one could almost think that time has stood still in the old town of Schaffhausen: And on joining a Schaffhausen night watchman to tour the town, you can listen to some interesting facts as well as peculiar, spooky and amusing incidents from times long gone by.
On listening to the tales of a night watchman as he recalls the Middle Ages, time really appears to have stood still as you are cast into a real-life experience: At what time did the doors to the city really close; where were night pans emptied, how were fires put out and what were the consequences for somebody daring to swear in public? All this and more is revealed on the night-watch tour which, among other things, leads to places that during this particular time, under normal circumstances, one would not have dared to set foot in!

Special, and only during the Advent period: Guided night-watch tours with Munot viewing. What happened to drunkards, thieves and sinners, what book of rules did a night watchman have to follow – and why was the Munot actually given the name Munot?

The guided night-watch tour, incl. Munot, takes place solely in December. The tour cannot be booked for groups and is a tour only suitable for those fit and able to walk well
