Description

Attractive and interesting hikes close to nature as you learn a piece of cultural history on walking the Walserweg trail.
The eight-kilometer trail in Surselva starts in the sleepy hamlet of Giraniga, leads to Miraniga and has everything you’d expect from a pleasing hike: including spectacular views over the valley of Chur as far as Disentis. Twenty-three info panels along the route reflect the interaction between man, nature and the landscape with a wide range of topics including animals, plants, mushrooms, medicinal herbs, flowers and geology - bringing you that bit closer to the history of the Walsers and the nature of the trail both past and present.

And a hanging bridge at the very same place suffices a thirst for adventure - stretching over the ravine at around 45 meters in length and measuring around long 16 meters high at the deepest point if you feel like testing your courage. On reaching the other side you discover yet another fireplace, the "Sassli", inviting you to stop off for a relaxing break in a cosy spot. Also a great spot to stop for a break is the "Plàmpoort" fireplace, equipped with a special fireplace, drinking water from a well and toilet block for your convenience - where you can relax, unwind and probably enjoy a bite to eat.
