Description

Hikers on the Gall Trail follow in the footsteps of the itinerant Irish monk Gall, who, in 612, travelled from Arbon to St.Gallen and established his hermit's cell in the Mülenen Gorge.
One hundred years later, an abbey was built on the site of this small cell – an abbey that became known as the “writing room of Europe” in the Middle Ages and one of the most important cultural centers of the West. The city of St. Gallen came into being around the abbey.
