Description

Vullierens Castle, together with its magnificent gardens and sculpture park, constitutes one of Switzerland’s most remarkable heritage sites with a superb 180° view of the Alps, Mont Blanc and Lake Geneva.
Vullierens Castle is considered a perfect example of early 18th century Swiss architecture and was built on the foundations of a 13th century fortified castle. The 100-hectare estate has remained in the same family for 700 years.
In addition to one of the most modern iris collections in Europe with more than 400 different varieties and 13,500 daylily rhizomes, visitors can admire various spaces that are constantly being redesigned in the 30-hectare park. From May to July, around 50,000 flowers create a magnificent mosaic of colours with over 14,000 late-flowering tulips, a collection of peonies and rhododendrons and an impressive rose garden.
The gardens and themed walks are an added attraction, while the bridle path lined with ancient sequoias, oaks and what is certainly the oldest tulip tree in Switzerland completes the floral offering.
The sculpture park features over 80 contemporary works by 20 Swiss and international artists.
The Vullierens vineyard extends over eight hectares and is planted with chasselas, pinot noir, gamay, gamaret-garanoir and galotta grapes. The old cellars have recently been opened to the public and offer free wine tastings to visitors.
A café, shop and exhibitions are available to visitors in the spring.
