Hagenwil Castle is one of the best preserved moated castles in Switzerland and was first mentioned in the 13th century. For over 200 years, it has been owned by the Angehrn family, who run a restaurant in the castle and produce their own wine.

The oldest parts of Hagenwil Castle are around 1,000 years old. The castle has often changed hands and was not spared from looting and devastation. The historical rooms of Hagenwil’s moated castle have their own individual charm. The castle also has rooms that can still be admired in their original condition: such as the bedroom with the four-poster bed.

The moated castle has gained a reputation primarily thanks to its excellent restaurant. High-quality produce and varied creations are served that delight the eyes and the taste buds alike. Located in an idyllic setting between paddocks and vineyards, it is an ideal venue for private celebrations and parties. In addition to the Hagenwil Castle Festival and the Harvest Festival, regular events are held in the castle bar.
