Val Frisal
The protected Val Frisal, a 3 km plateau at about 1900 m, is perfect to linger a while, relax and leave all your cares behind. The high valley can only be reached on foot and offers amazing panoramic views.
The 3 km long protected Val Frisal plateau at an altitude of 1885 m with a trough-shaped glacier flow and beautifully meandering water channels spreading across the entire plateau, almost like veins, and reaching up to glaciers and snowfields is certainly an exceptional place, out of sight and rather solitary. All you meet here is wild game and perhaps a few sheep. The streams, a low-moor bog with unusual fauna and flora and the area leading up to the glacier make Val Frisal one of the most beautiful high plateaus of the Alps. And the peaks surrounding Val Frisal are simply spectacular. It all seems perfect, ideal to relax and leave your cares behind.
The official route stops at the entrance to the valley. From there on, you are on your own. The fascinating climb into Val Frisal follows the Flem creek and continues past the smallest but highest primeval forest of Switzerland near Chischarolas. Some of the spruce are up to 600 years old and more than 30 meters high. Three beautifully situated grilling places on the Flem creek are just right for a picnic.
The walk from and back to the village of Brigels takes about 4.5 to 5 hours or 3.5 to 4 hours from the Crest Falla chairlift mountain station. Good footwear is recommended.
