This is Nyon

Canton of Vaud. This small town is a popular destination thanks to its location on
Lake Geneva and its charming old town with the castle.
Discover Nyon
In Nyon, everything is within walking distance: the Roman amphitheatre, the old town around the Grand-Rue, and the impressive castle. Walking along the historic city walls, you’ll reach Kastanienplatz with its iconic Roman columns. From there, stroll through the lovely Bourg-de-Rive park to the lakeside promenade, where you can relax and enjoy an aperitif.
The Old Town and the Castle
Nyon’s old town invites you to wander its cobbled streets and arcades. Discover historic buildings, charming boutiques, and a statue of Julius Caesar beside the
Roman Museum. Make sure to stop at Schlossplatz, where the city’s landmark with its five towers stands proudly. Visiting the castle is well worth it for the unique views over
Lake Geneva (French: Lac Léman) and the Jura mountains beyond.
Leisure Activities in and Around Nyon
Nyon has three museums: The castle houses a porcelain collection from its former manufactory, the
Roman Museum focuses on the Roman colony of Noviodunum, and the Musée du Léman is dedicated to Lake Geneva. In summer, Nyon becomes a city of festivals: The Paléo music festival and the international film festival "Visions du Réel" have attracted crowds for years. A special experience is the
steamboat trips on Lake Geneva, with stops in
Geneva,
Lausanne, and
Montreux.
