Bergün / Bravuogn

Bergün can be found on the UNESCO Albula railway line, which is also home to the world-famous Landwasser Viaduct. This destination will inspire you with its picturesque village centre, the railway museum, the beautiful Parc Ela nature park and the fast-paced toboggan runs.

This is Bergün

Bergün is situated in the east of Switzerland, in Graubünden. The pretty villagescape, the UNESCO-listed railway line and the wonderful mountains make Bergün a popular excursion and holiday destination.

Discover Bergün

As you explore, you’ll find yourself marveling at the village scenery with its sgraffiti-decorated Engadin houses. A real eye-catcher is Haus Jenatsch on the village square, and next to it is the striking Roman tower. In the local museum, you can learn more about life from both past and present. Or you can visit one of the charming farm shops with their local products.

Albula/Bernina UNESCO World Heritage Route

Not far from Bergün in Filisur, you can find the Landwasser Viaduct, the landmark of the UNESCO-listed railway line. Various viewing platforms invite you to marvel at the construction from all sides. Around Bergün, the Rhaetian Railway makes a few impressive loops, disappears into a tunnel and then reappears somewhere else. At the Albula Railway Museum, you can learn just how this architectural masterpiece was able to come together.

Preda–Bergün toboggan run

The toboggan run from Preda to Bergün is probably the most popular in Switzerland. You’ll have already got your money’s worth on arrival, as the train travels through looped tunnels and over viaducts to Preda. While the traffic rolls towards the Albula Pass in summer, you’ll curve under the viaducts to Bergün on a toboggan – over a length of six kilometres. By the way, the route is illuminated in the evening, inviting you to go tobogganing at night too.

Around Bergün

Experience a real feeling of wilderness in Parc Ela – from the Schinschlucht gorge at 745 metres to Piz Kesch at 3,418 metres. On Alp Flix, observe lived mountain culture between moors and mountain lakes. From Preda, hike to the crystal-clear Lai da Palpuogna mountain lake in summer. Or travel by train through the Albula Tunnel to the sun-drenched Engadin. Its terminus is the holiday resort of St. Moritz.

Experience Bergün for less

With the UNESCO World Heritage Pass, you’ll get unlimited travel on the route from Thusis to Tirano for two days. Also included is a free UNESCO travel guide to the Albula/Bernina railway line. In winter, the day ticket for the Preda and Darlux toboggan runs is well worthwhile, as is the arrival by chair lift and train.
