Chippis is a municipality in the district of Sierre in the canton of Valais in Switzerland .

Chippis is first mentioned in the 11th century as Sepils.

Chippis has an area, as of 2009, of 2 square kilometers (0.77 sq mi). Of this area, 0.11 km2 (0.042 sq mi) or 5.6% is used for agricultural purposes, while 1.17 km2 (0.45 sq mi) or 59.1% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 0.48 km2 (0.19 sq mi) or 24.2% is settled (buildings or roads), 0.07 km2 (17 acres) or 3.5% is either rivers or lakes and 0.17 km2 (0.066 sq mi) or 8.6% is unproductive land.

Of the built up area, industrial buildings made up 6.6% of the total area while housing and buildings made up 10.1% and transportation infrastructure made up 4.5%.
