History
Conthey is first mentioned about 800 as curtis Contextis. In 1146 it was mentioned as ecclesiam de Plano Contesio.
Geography
Conthey has an area, as of 2009, of 85 square kilometers (33 sq mi). Of this area, 19.81 km2 (7.65 sq mi) or 23.3% is used for agricultural purposes, while 22.39 km2 (8.64 sq mi) or 26.3% is forested.
