Menarola is a frazione and a former comune (municipality) in the Province of Sondrio in the Italian region Lombardy , located about 90 kilometres (56 mi) north of Milan and about 45 kilometres (28 mi) northwest of Sondrio, on the border with Switzerland. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 40 and an area of 14.8 square kilometres (5.7 sq mi).
